Description
Ultramarine blue has been enchanting humans for centuries. Originally made with carefully extracted lapis lazuli pigments, in the 1960s the painter Yves Klein formulated an ultramarine blue paint that in which the pigment was suspended in a synthetic binder. Klein named the color “International Klein Blue,” or “IKB.” Well known to artists, Klein’s work included many monochromes and imprints using IKB. Here, we provide a miniature sample of ultramarine paint produced in France. The canvas is 3 inches by 3 inches, and is displayed on a wooden easel. The blue is deep and inspiring, and provides a taste of Klein for a desk or bookshelf. Made in the Dogwatch Studio in Minneapolis.
