Description
Ultramarine blue has been enchanting humans for centuries. Originally made with carefully extracted lapis lazuli pigments, in the 1960s the painter Yves Klein formulated an ultramarine blue paint that in which the pigment was suspended in a synthetic binder. Klein named the color “International Klein Blue,” or “IKB.” Well known to artists, Klein’s work included many monochromes and imprints using IKB. Here, we provide a miniature sample of ultramarine paint produced in France.
This canvas is 9″ by 12″ and is individually numbered as DM62L-0005. It is stunning to see the way that this pigment lights a room and evokes the sea and sky. This canvas provides a taste of Klein for the office or home that requires a smaller space than our large monochrome. Made in the Dogwatch Studio in Minneapolis.
