Description

Yves Klein experimented with his IKB pigment, not only producing monochrome paintings but also making natural coverings and imprints. His human imprints he termed “Anthropometries.” The Dogwatch Company took inspiration from Klein and made a series of three imprints from dogs. This artistic process was likely a good bit messier than when human subjects are used, but any lover of dogs can see that the result evokes the motion, energy, and positive nature of the canine experience.

Ultramarine blue has been enchanting humans for centuries. Originally made with carefully extracted lapis lazuli pigments, in the 1960s the painter Yves Klein formulated an ultramarine blue paint that in which the pigment was suspended in a synthetic binder. Klein named the color “International Klein Blue,” or “IKB.”  Here, we use IKB ultramarine paint produced in France.

This canvas is 12″ by 16″ and is individually numbered as DM62L-0001.  Made in the Dogwatch Studio in Minneapolis.
